If it ain't broke...

...don't fix it goes the conventional wisdom.

The fact is, the only constant is change.

Penicillin was discovered by accident, and some of the greatest inventions, revelations, and ideas aren't "planned".

3M, one of the companies most accredited with technology and change ("we didn't invent the things you love, we made them better"), institutes a rule wherein 15% of each employees time is to be spent creatively, challenging the status quo and free to explore in unrestrained territory.

Today's message is short, sweet, simple, and straightforward.

If you aren't changing on your own terms, you will be changing on someone else's.

If you aren't reinventing yourself, you will be struggling to keep up with someone else who just did (and who grabbed a portion of your market share in the process).

If it ain't broke, break it.

the great companies think that way,
the great athletes think that way,
the great societies in history started that way before ego or complacency spelled their downfall.

Do something different today and then do it different again tomorrow.
